Valentines or The Reasons Why I Love You

Your eyes are searchlights that frighten my ghosts.
You love me electric every time you look at me.

You read my body like a map every night,
leaving your touches like pushpins against me,
marking out all of the places we’ll go together.

You tear out my tensions with tenderness
and bottle my fear into tiny, glass vials.

You sit in my lungs like oxygen,
populating my body with thoughts of you.

You bloom within me like a sunrise
every time I think of you.
